THAMES RIVERSIDE 20 - 7th March 2010
WELL DONE EVERYONE WHO RAN
RESULTS NOW AVAILABLE (CLICK HERE)
20 MILE TIMED training run brought to you by Clapham Chasers & Gatorade

FULL RUN DETAILS:
Run Start: 8am - Bishop's Park adjacent to Putney Bridge (see course map for exact location)
Registration:
After registering online and making your payment, collection of your run number will be at the event registration tent on the day of the event and will be open from 7.00am. We strongly recommend everyone is there by 7:30. Go to the run HQ, tell them your name and you will be given allocated number and safety pins. You will then have everything you need to run.
Baggage:
We will have an area where bags can be left, they will be watched but they are left at your own risk.
Run start and format (IMPORTANT):
The run will start at 8am prompt. We will have pacers at 6.5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 minute miling. At the time of registering you will be asked to select which group you want to start in. It is important you then start with this group or your finish time will be affected. Five to ten minutes before the start you will be asked to stand with the leader of your chosen pace. The groups will then head of seperately with short intervals between them.
The first mile of the race goes over Putney Bridge, you do not have to cross any roads. You then run down the towpath on the South side of the Thames. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT FOR THE FIRST SECTION until you are past the rowing clubhouses that you stay behind the leader. This is just for the first mile. The run director and helpers at the start will be on hand to help you if you need. You can then chose to run with the pacers or at your own speed.
Course Map:
Thames Riverside 20 Course Map.pdf (Only first 10 mile markers are shown as they are the same on the return leg.)
Marshals:
The course is very simple as you will see from the map, hence why we chose it for a good training run. After crossing the bridge at the start, which you will be guided across anyway, the course is straight down the towpath to Richmond where you do a small loop and straight back again. All turns in the Richmond area will be marshalled. There will also be the occasional arrow and sawdust showing the route to Richmond and back but this is simply extra precaution. Just don't turn off the towpath unless a marshal tells you to. If you follow the leaders they know the route anyway.
Refreshments:
There will be Gatorade at the midway point and at the finish. Water will be available at the end too.
Timing:
The run will start in waves according to the pacing and a minute apart. Each runner will be timed according to which group they started in so you will get an accurate time for the run.
Terrain:
Dead flat course using the towpath to Richmond and back.
Transport:
Putney Overground, Putney Bridge Tube and Local Bus routes.
Toilets:
There are public toilets that will be open in Bishops park at the start and finish.
Results:
All results will be published online very shortly after the run.
Keep to the left:
If runners are coming back in the other direction it's wise if we have a general rule to keep left. As the numbers are limited and this is after 10 miles anyway we don't think this is any issue at all.
Right of way:
The paths are not closed off to the public and therefor we do not have right of way. Please respect other users of the paths.
Note for participants: Please be aware that this is not a race. It is merely a training run which Clapham Chasers have invited you to participate in as a running/social activity.
