Upcoming events

    • March 21, 2010
    • London Meed Primary School, Burgess Hill
We are targetting this event as a sportive for all Chasers, more information available on the SRS events website here http://www.srs-events.cc/event1/event-details.htm. Please enter through the SRS website as well as registering on the Chasers site so we can contact everyone easily.

This is a great sportive with 3 different distances to cater for absolutely everyone:
    • Tour - 35 miles
    • Challenge - 53 miles
    • Classic - 71 miles

For those that have never done a sportive before it is not a race (there is no mass start) and you can take it at your own pace. They are great fun events and a good opportunity to meet and chat to others on your way round. Typically you'll see people of all ages and abilities with highend road bikes through to people riding mountain bikes and tandems.

This sportive has a well marked route, changing rooms at the HQ, feed stations and support vehicles en route and post race goody bags.

Event HQ is at London Meed School in Burgess Hill, RH15 9YQ - less than 5 minutes from the train station. There's a direct train direct from Clapham Junction to Burgess Hill which take around 45 minutes.

We will be contacting all Chasers participating nearer to the time with further details. Note: This page will be periodically updated with details of those who have entered.

It would be great to see some big Chaser peleton's in the sportive and with professional photographers en route please all wear your Chasers kit where possible.

Any questions, particularly if this is your first sportive, please speak to a member of the tri committee.

The race will start with a Run consisting of 1 lap of the road circuit followed by 2 laps on an off road hardened track. The Bike section will be 20 laps of the full 2k circuit, and the final Run will be 2 laps on the off road track. Timing chips will be used and results will be posted on these webpages.

    • Kempton Park Racecourse

Registration now open, details below. This is a London League Event so maximum numbers needed. Note new venue this year.

The Ful-On Duathlon will take place on Saturday 24th April 2010 at the new venue of Kempton Park Racecourse. The venue offers closed roads and an excellent grandstand arena to view all the action.

    http://www.fulontri.com/FulOnDuathlon/FulOnDuathlon2010/tabid/193/Default.aspx

    The race consists of a 5k run (2 laps) / 20k bike (6 laps) / 5k run (2 laps).

The run consists of two laps of the road inside the jumps course, taking competitors around the lake. The run is flat and mostly on tarred road surfaces, except where it crosses the all weather racecourse. The bike course is entirely on the road and contained within a closed road circuit.

The venue is ideal for novices and experienced competitors alike, with grass areas and a grandstand for easy spectating.

Indoor 400m Swim followed by 5k off-road Run

    Event Information: www.claphamchasers.co.uk/upthejunction

Organised by Clapham Chasers the Up The Junction Aquathlon will take place in the grounds of Emanuel School near Clapham Junction (South London) on the 2nd May 2010.

With a maximum entry of around 120, competitors will complete a 400m swim in the Emanuel indoor pool before completing a 5k run taking in the school grounds and Wandsworth Common. Ideal for first timers this is a friendly, BTF approved race with plenty of areas for spectators and supporters to cheer you on.

Up The Junction harks back to a play and movie from the 1960s involving a girl from a rich family in Chelsea who bored with her comfortable life decides to go and live in the drab working-class district of Battersea. It's an account of life in  grim Battersea and Clapham Junction that the swinging sixties hadn't then reached.

This event reached it's capacity in 2009 with 3 weeks to go and a record entry of 440 teams.

    • Rutland Water, Leicestershire
We are aiming to have a large number of Chasers building towards this as their first Half Ironman distance event for 2010. The Vitruvian is regularly voted the UK's best triathlon.

Postal entry is now open, online entry expected soon

    http://www.pacesetterevents.com/vitruvian-triathlon.php

Starting with an initial 1900 metre swim which sets the standard for the rest of the race. The following 84km bike which includes two climbs over the notorious Rutland Ripple and incorporates nearly 1000m of climbing is just the second stage of suffering before the 21km run gets under way just to finish things off. The good news is at least the run is flat.

Note entry fills up quickly so please enter this event as soon as it is open for entries, we will be announcing this on the Chasers forum

The entire race is held within Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, the first run on a beautiful course taking in the footpath around the Serpentine (4.2km). The bike is 8 laps of South Carriage Drive (20.8km) – don't be fooled, it's not flat but it should be fast and the road surface is good. Not done yet though, you finish with two laps of the Serpentine (7.6km)
