It’s finally time for THE cycling event of the Chasers calendar… the annual ride to Brighton!
We will meet at 8:30am on Saturday 3rd May for an 8:45 group photo and Grand Depart. The meet point is outside the Foxcroft and Ginger cafe, Ritherdon Road, Balham. The cafe has unfortunately closed, but if you find yourself in desperate need of a pre ride coffee, the Dee Light Bakery will be open a few doors down.
This is a wonderful excuse for a trip to the seaside for fish and chips, pornstar martini trees, beer or Prosecco (or both…), and for the brave, the option of a post ride sea swim! For some it will be the culmination of 3 months hard work on the Build up to Brighton programme (well done, you’ve made it, so long as you make it to Brighton!).
This ride is open to all and there is no need to have attended an intro ride to join, although we do insist on no flat handlebars for safety reasons.
Bring extra layers for post ride, as we will be seated OUTSIDE at Oh So Social as usual.
Comment below if you’re in!
There are three route options:
Standard: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39239036 80km 924m climbing including Ditchling beacon
Long: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46353992 107k 1314m climbing
Out and back: https://www.strava.com/routes/12417359. Most just do the 107km route to Brighton and get the train home, but there will be some who do the whole 200km “out and back”. The long route is beautiful, across Ashdown Forest, however very hilly, so be warned!
Please be aware that you are responsible for your own safety and should be able to get yourself safely home if necessary. Please also remember to dress for the weather, bring your phone, money, drink and food, spare inner tube, tyre levers and mini-pump etc, and money to buy me a drink.
We welcome runners who may want to do a trail run eg Hassocks to Brighton, along North Downs Way or similar, and then join for the refreshments.
